The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and COBRA
This past February, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) which includes major changes to COBRA continuation coverage provisions. Under ARRA, workers who are involuntarily terminated from employment between September 1, 2008 and December 31, 2009 (and their qualified beneficiaries) may pay reduced COBRA premiums for a period of up to nine months.
