Genevate Launches Redesigned Website for the Hyannis Chamber

May 10th, 2007 -- Genevate is proud to announce today the launch of the newly redesigned Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce website (www.hyannis.com). The site has been resurrected with new features added for maximum visibility online as a member of the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce, or as a visiting traveler to the Hyannis, Cape Cod Area.

"This site is playing a critical role in destination marketing, immersing the traveler into the Hyannis, Cape Cod experience before they get here," states Genevate President/CEO Leslie Fishlock. "By travelers creating their own accounts, planning their own itineraries, and reading reviews, they are already experiencing their vacation and sharing it with their family and friends before they even get here."

The new website, built entirely in Ruby-on-Rails, a progressive agile programming language that is object-oriented, features compliant code and federal 508 Accessibility requirements, as well as using Web Standards as mandated by the W3C.

The new website's main focus is a customized Web 2.0 Membership Directory Application with numerous value-added tools and features. Basic member listings include not only their name, address, phone number and a link to their website, but through purchasing "Enhanced Listings" they can add their own events to the online calendar, add their own news/press releases, add specials or coupons, allow reviews to be posted on their listing, logo, add 9 images or photos to to their online gallery, add their own blog posts and add PDF brochures. Accommodations and Restaurants can post pictures of their establishments. Retail stores can post their favorite products. Homebuilders, designers and landscapers can post pictures of some of their best work. Graphic designers, new media, digital art and website designers will be able to display and market their visual talent using this tool. Though marketed as a value-add for the visual crowd, any other company can display pictures of their company, diagrams, or even photos of their workplace.

There is a field in which you can add your RSS Blog posts, which will automatically grab your news stories from their Blog and display them on the site.

Each mini webpage will be in the control of the member, and they alone will be responsible for updating their content, pictures and specials, through their own content management administrative panel. There is a MapIt function to their office or establishment, a bookmark for Social Networking sites that will give their listing added visibility on Google and other search engines.

There is also the ability for all Hyannis Chamber members the ability to view their own web stats. Impressions and clicks will be measured for directory listings, and website links to provide accurate measurability for each member business. Leads will also be captured through the "itinerary" function as visitors add a bed & breakfast, or museum, or restaurant to their itinerary. Every time a Visitor adds a member's establishment to their "MyHyannis" account itinerary, the member will be notified and receive lead information such as address and email, so that members can send them brochures, rates, specials and collateral on their business. The same goes for all Business itineraries, as local and regional businesses will want services from non-tourism based business. These leads will be able to be exported into an Excel spreadsheet for their convenience, and from there they can make their own labels or mail mergers.

Though there is a large tourism twist to the site, local businesses are given the same consideration for marketing and visibility.

"Non-tourism businesses will have the same opportunity to showcase their products and services, have people write reviews, and bring in their blog feeds," claims Fishlock. "Businesses have to understand that just because they may not use the web tools incorporated on the Hyannis site themselves, it doesn't mean that their potential clients don't. The need to understand your audience and what they want is very important, and what the client or traveler in 2007 wants is more user-based content models to interact with like Hyannis.com."

The site also utilizes an intuitive and easy content management system for the Hyannis Chamber staff to easily update new content about programs, events and news.

Since the site was built with "search-engine friendly" web standards, so that the new content added and updated by members provides more search engine content and in turn, better results for finding all the best businesses in the Hyannis Area.

The Chamber will be utilizing a Banner Ad module, for accurate impression and clickthrough measurability on all their paid ads by members. The ads are on a rotating basis, and can be found as a "Featured Business" or within the category pages on the site.

The Chamber will also be utilizing the the GenevateStore ecommerce store solution, as well as GenevateMail for email marketing.
