Cape Business Magazine founders named the SBA’s Massachusetts 2007 Small Business Journalist Award Winners

March 12, 2007 – Robert Viamari, Glenn Ritt and Ernie Johnson, co-founders of Cape Business Publishing Group LLC, have been named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2007 Massachusetts Small Business Journalists, according to an announcement made by Maurice L. Dubé, Massachusetts SBA District Director.

The Small Business Journalist of the Year award is presented annually to an individual or individuals who have made an effort to increase public understanding of the importance of small business contributions to the economy. Ed McDonald of the Cape Cod SCORE Chapter nominated publishers Viamari, Ritt, who is also editor, and Ernie Johnson for this award.

“Journalists are so important to the cause of small business,” said SBA’s Dubé, “and Bob, Glenn and Ernie, have created Cape Business magazine, a quality publication designed specifically for the business owners in their market.” Their work has contributed to increased knowledge about the role small business plays in the Cape Cod economy.”

Cape Business is the flagship business magazine of Cape Business Publishing Group LLC, a publishing company founded by Ernie Johnson, president of Advanced Printing, Glenn Ritt, former editor and publisher of Cape Cod Community Newspapers, and Robert Viamari, former senior officer of Merrill Lynch, in 2003.

They also launched Plymouth County Business this year. It will be mailed to businesses throughout the county.

Cape Business is an authoritative, indispensable and entertaining magazine chronicling Cape Cod’s economy – the issues, people, events, decisions and investments that affect the business community. This bimonthly publication profiles both large and small Cape businesses and the personalities behind them with a focus on Cape industries and issues.

In addition, each issue provides data, surveys and economic and financial information – all in a full four-color glossy and readable format.

Viamari, Ritt and Johnson will be honored along with the SBA’s other small business award winners, at an awards luncheon hosted by the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce in Lawrence on Friday, May 11, 2007.
