Spiritual cinema, art showings, hand-blended products elevate Welstar above the average day spa

JUNE 20, 2006 -- A new approach to total well-being comes to Cape Cod this July. Featuring the only in-house apothecary and tea bar in New England, Welstar essential wellness spa offers a wealth of services to enrich your body and foster self-care awareness, featuring handmade, all-natural and organic products formulated by owner Mahara Ashlie. Concentrating on nourishment and restoration through positive, individualized services, Welstar provides a full range of treatments that honor the body as sacred and beautiful.

Its location in a home-like atmosphere in a renovated, turn-of-the-century Victorian house in Orleans’s central village district makes Welstar a desired destination. Imagine a holistic, healing home-away-from-home. Soak your feet in soothing, blue ceramic bowls. Gaze at gorgeous stained glass throughout the building. Exquisite blue glass vessel sinks and views of the outdoors from each treatment room complete the look by infusing Welstar with warmth and elegance. Wellness Journeys and spa services combined with Orleans’ quaint inns and bed and breakfasts and nearby beach getaways create the ultimate vacation.

Holistic wellness treatments offered at Welstar include aromatherapy, hydro-aroma steam therapy, massage therapy, reiki, crystal and light balancing, herbal therapy and chromotherapy. Wellness Journeys: Welstar’s unique four-six week programs of intensive care for long-lasting results will help you learn to “love your body,” “cleanse and purify,” and prepare for life-changing events such as motherhood and marriage. Welstar’s signature treatments offer the ultimate in individualized luxury. Signature treatments may be booked for massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. These special services typify Welstar’s personalized approach and feature handcrafted creams and oils
customized with essential oil blends for each client. As an added bonus, signature treatment clients also get to take their custom-blended product home with them. Welstar’s in-house apothecary blends essential oils into one-of-a-kind skin care products which heal hands, condition and rehydrate skin, and soothe nerves. A trained esthetician will ask a few questions to determine the blend with the most benefits for you.

Welstar also offers traditional facials and other spa treatments such as body wraps, scrubs and peels, but with a noticeably natural touch: all products used for these treatments are handcrafted by Mahara and designed specifically with the client’s wellness needs in mind. Welstar’s Fresh Fruit Body Peel is made on-site, from seasonal fruits right before your treatment. Makeup application, hair removal and special treats such as scalp massages, sinus compresses, and foot and hand wraps are also on Welstar’s service menu. Manicures and pedicures feature virtually odor free, water-based, non-toxic polishes and remover that are free from formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, and other noxious chemical solvents.

Be refreshed and revitalized at Welstar’s distinctive tea bar, featuring herbal products personally formulated by Mahara. Enjoy one of Welstar’s therapeutic herbal teas or herbal cocktails—a mix of herbal tincture and juice and/or sparkling water—at the beautiful wood bar or outside on the spacious front porch overlooking the historic French Cable Station Museum and behind that, the Town Cove.

Mahara believes in taking care of yourself before you can take care of others. Mahara treats her staff like her valued clients and offers them a deck for relaxation, a break room and meditation area, as well as free spa services. Welstar also gives back to the community: the spa will donate 10% of all profits to health and wellness causes in the area, as well as supporting local and invited artists with featured art shows on a seasonal basis. This fall Welstar will host monthly spiritual cinema showings to enhance wellness experiences at the spa and to further enrich the community.

Welstar’s mission is to make a positive difference in all the lives they touch. Their goal is to inspire and educate their clientele to "listen to what your body needs and treat it with love." They believe
in treating themselves, each other, all beings and the planet with compassion, honesty and respect.
With a background in nursing as well as art therapy, alternative healing and visual arts, Mahara combines her talents to bring wholeness to body and soul. Having suffered for years from severe allergies and asthma, which at their peak required hospitalization, Mahara was determined to find a way to help her body heal itself. She tried many alternative treatment modalities and progressed to studying aromatherapy, herbology, reiki, and chakra balancing, reflexology and massage therapy. Mahara fell in love with aromatherapy and herbology and began her own herbal consulting practice. She created her own skin care and herbal products for gifts, and soon family and friends were
asking her to customize blends for them. Encouraged to sell her creations, Mahara became an entrepreneur and sold her line of healing products for 12 years. The positive experience she has had supporting others to heal themselves inspired Mahara to offer a peaceful, loving place in the community to foster wellness; thus, Welstar was born.

Whatever you need to achieve wholeness, from customized spa services to experiencing the beauty of art and spiritual cinema, you’ll find it at Welstar. Let nature nurture you and be well.
