Seamen’s Bank Named Best Historically Sensitive Addition to the Town of Eastham

JUNE 1, 2006 -- John Roderick, President of Seamen’s Bank, has announced the Eastham Chamber of Commerce has recognized the Eastham Branch with the "Best Historically Sensitive Addition to the Town of Eastham" award. This honor was accepted on the bank’s behalf at the Eastham Chamber’s annual membership meeting by Colleen O’Duffy Johnston, Eastham Branch Manager and Sarah Matel, Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer.

In keeping with Seamen’s commitment to the heritage of Cape Cod, the new building was designed to authentically re-create the original Victorian structure. As Roderick says, the bank had a two-fold mission for the Eastham office: “to create a building that was respectful of the town’s heritage and to bring true community banking to Eastham.”

Seamen’s, Cape Cod’s First Community Bank, was founded and incorporated in 1851 as a mutual bank to be operated for the benefit of the citizenry and not for the profit of stockholders. Seamen’s Bank continues to operate on Cape Cod with a strong capital position and guided by the same principle. Seamen’s has additional offices on Commercial Street and in the Shank Painter Road Complex, Provincetown and on Route 6 in Wellfleet and in North Truro. The Operations Center is also located in Truro.
