Lynne Poyant named honorary chair of TD Banknorth Pops by the Sea
May 18, 2006 -- The Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod are pleased to announce that Lynne M. Poyant, Director of Community Services for the Town of Barnstable, has been named Honorary Chair of the 21st Annual TD Banknorth Pops by the Sea concert. The annual concert features the only Cape Cod appearance of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and conductor Keith Lockhart, this year featuring guest conductor William Shatner.
“As the founding organization of Pops by the Sea, it has been our privilege and pleasure each year to select an Honorary Chair to join the Arts Foundation’s Celebrity Guest Conductor as co-host of the event,” said Monica Parker, Executive Director of the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce.
“Lynne’s outstanding record of commitment and service to the community make her a terrific choice for this honor,” said Maggie Van Sciver, Board President of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. “We are thrilled to add Lynne to the roster of accomplished Pops by the Sea honorary chairpersons, and welcome the opportunity to show our gratitude for her support.”
Prior to taking on the role of Director of Community Services with the Town of Barnstable, Lynne served as the Executive Director of the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce for over nine years, and before that as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Ticket Office Manager for Hy-Line Cruises. Lynne has donated her time to the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod in various capacities for many years, and has served on the Arts Liaison and Marketing Committees, and as AFCC Board President in 1993. Lynne also became involved with the Pops by the Sea Steering Committee in 1989 as Volunteer Coordinator, and since then has served the Steering Committee as Vice Chair, Co-Chair, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair.
Lynne graduated from Quinnipiac University with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing with a concentration in Public Relations, and received a Certificate in Organizational Management in 2001. She is active with the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, Camp to Belong Massachusetts, the Hyannis Rotary Club, and the United Way of Cape Cod & the Islands. Lynne is the proud aunt of five beautiful nieces -- Amanda, Katelyn, Nikita, Rae, and Amy – and two nephews – Eric and Jeremy, and enjoys spending as much as time as possible with them.
